SUMMARY:USSF Fall Open ATL
DESCRIPTION:The best run and most enjoyable lifting contest has returned for the fall and Atlanta Barbell is pumped to be hosting. \nThis is a strenthlifing meet. The contested lifts will be the squat\, press (overhead)\, and deadlift\, which differs from a powerlifting meet. While the are both strength sports in which similar movements are done\, strengthlifting has rules (or a lack) that create quite a different type of competition. Some of these include; There is no bench press. Instead\, you will perform the standing press. Deadlifts must to be done conventionally\, with the feet inside of the hands. You do not weigh in prior to the meet\, you weigh out after your final deadlift attempt. And best of all\, Judges are not involved in the lift whatsoever. No one tells you when to squat\, when to press\, or when to do anything during the actual lift. A full set of rules can be found at: \nhttps://internationalbarbellfederation.com/rules/ \nThe meet will be held under the sanction of the US Strengthlifting Federation (USSF). Competitors will be ranked and can qualify for nationals. A USSF membership is required to compete. \nPrevious competitions have been enjoyable and efficient affairs and I am looking forward to this one running just as well. Your meet entry fee includes a lifter slot and the option to purchase a meet shirt. Overall winners of the meet will be calculated via the Wilks formula\, will take home honor\, pride\, and a piece of memorabilia signifying your accomplishment.

SUMMARY:2018 Chicago Strengthlifting Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Squat | Press | Deadlift\nReturning to Chicago is the 2018 Chicago Strengthlifting Challenge. This is a USSF sanctioned event where the contested lifts are squat\, press\, and deadlift. Besides using the standing press in place of the bench press\, this meet differs in many ways from traditional powerlifting meets. \nUSSF Rules Summary\nPress\nThere is no bench press. Instead\, you will perform a standing overhead press. \nCommands\nThere are NO commands from the judges. You perform the lift and demonstrate control of the bar in and out of the rack. The judges simply judge. \nDeadlift\nThe meet requires you to do the conventional deadlift. There are no sumo deadlifts allowed. \nWeigh-Ins \nThere are no weigh-ins. Instead\, all competitors will weight outimmediately after their final deadlift attempt. \nEquipment \nBelts are allowed\, knee sleeves are allowed\, and wrist wraps are allowed. We do not allow knee wraps\, squat suits\, deadlift suits\, or magic underpants. \nThe full set of rules can be found here: \nUS Strengthlifting Federation Rules \nUSSF Sanction\nAs a sanctioned USSF event\, this event will serve as a qualifying contest for the 2019 USSF Nationals event to be held in January 2019 at a location to be determined. \nYou must have a valid USSF membership to compete in this event. The cost for USSF membership is $25 and your membership is valid for one year. \nFAQ\nWhat’s the refund policy?\nWhen you purchase a ticket\, you guarantee yourself a slot at the meet with limited attendance. As a result\, all ticket sales are final and refunds cannot be issued. \nIs my registration fee or ticket transferrable?\nIt is\, although you need to contact David Abdemoulaie to make sure that he has the new information and can process the transfer. This is especially important for t-shirts\, which are ordered several weeks in advance. Transfers that take place less than four weeks before the meet are not guaranteed to get a t-shirt. \nAre sumo deadlifts allowed at the meet?\nUnfortunately not. You can take as wide of a stance as you like\, but your feet must be inside of your hands. \nWhy are you performing a weigh out?\nWe want our weight classes to be accurate representations of the lifter’s bodyweight on the day of the meet. Weigh-ins at some point prior to the meet allow for temporarily cutting weight\, which is a practice we hope to discourage.

Overall winners of the Oakland meet\, calculated via the Wilks formula\, will take home what has become the most coveted prize in all of strength sports—a stuffed Tyrannosarus Rex. \nFrequently Asked Questions\n \nWhat’s the refund policy? \nWhen you purchase a ticket\, you guarantee yourself a slot at the meet with limited attendance. As a result\, all ticket sales are final and refunds cannot be issued. \nIs my registration fee or ticket transferrable? \nIt is\, although you need to contact Thomas Campitelli to make sure that he has the new information and can process the transfer. One will be in the morning. One in the afternoon. Past meets have had an approximately 50/50 split between open and women compeitiors. Most likely\, the open competitors will lift in the morning and the women in the afternoon. That may well change\, however\, based on sign ups. The final schedule and heats will be published three to four weeks before the meet.
