October 28, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm CDT
$99The Bay Area’s USSF fall strength meet is now for sale. Sign up and enjoy one of the best run lifting competitions you will find.
This is a strength meet where the contested lifts will be the squat, press, and deadlift, which differs from a powerlifting meet. There is no bench press. Instead, you will perform the standing press. Deadlifts must to be done conventionally, with the feet inside of the hands. You do not weigh in prior to the meet. Instead, you weigh out after your final deadlift attempt. A full set of rules can be found here:
US Strengthlifting Federation Rules
The Challenge will be held under the sanction of the US Strengthlifting Federation (USSF). Successfully making a total in a meet held by the USSF in 2019 will qualify you for USSF Nationals be held in early 2019 in Oakland, CA.

Previous competitions have been enjoyable and efficient affairs and I am looking forward to this one running just as well. Your meet entry fee includes an impeccably designed, high-quality t-shirt that will in all likelihood feature a dinosaur on it. Overall winners of the Oakland meet, calculated via the Wilks formula, will take home what has become the most coveted prize in all of strength sports—a stuffed Tyrannosarus Rex.
Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the refund policy?
When you purchase a ticket, you guarantee yourself a slot at the meet with limited attendance. As a result, all ticket sales are final and refunds cannot be issued.
Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?
It is, although you need to contact Thomas Campitelli to make sure that he has the new information and can process the transfer. This is especially important for t-shirts, which are ordered several weeks in advance. Transfers that take place less than four weeks before the meet are not guaranteed to get a t-shirt.
Are sumo deadlifts allowed at the meet?
They are not. You can take as wide of a stance as you like, but your feet must be inside of your hands.
Why are you performing a weigh out?
We want our weight classes to be accurate representations of the lifter’s bodyweight on the day of the meet. Weigh-ins at some point prior to the meet allow for temporarily cutting weight, which is a practice we hope to discourage.
What is the schedule for the meet?
If the meet sells out, there will be two sessions. One will be in the morning. One in the afternoon. Past meets have had an approximately 50/50 split between open and women compeitiors. Most likely, the open competitors will lift in the morning and the women in the afternoon. That may well change, however, based on sign ups. The final schedule and heats will be published three to four weeks before the meet.
